{"id":10123,"date":"2012-02-05T23:21:41","date_gmt":"2012-02-06T04:21:41","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.thecollegefix.com\/?p=10123"},"modified":"2015-05-25T21:14:20","modified_gmt":"2015-05-26T01:14:20","slug":"sex-week-at-yale","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.thecollegefix.com\/sex-week-at-yale\/","title":{"rendered":"Sex Week at Yale Returns"},"content":{"rendered":"<div id=\"resizetext\">\n<div>\n<div>\n<p>Sex Week at Yale. <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nationalreview.com\/articles\/229398\/bawd-and-man-yale\/nathan-harden\">In past years<\/a> it has included everything from sadomasochistic porn screenings, to sex toy demonstrations, to live nudity in the classroom.<\/p>\n<p>Last fall, after coming under federal investigation for alleged Title IX violations related to creating a hostile sexual environment for women, Yale administrators announced that <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nationalreview.com\/articles\/229398\/bawd-and-man-yale\/nathan-harden\">the biennial pornification of Yale, aka \u201cSex Week,\u201d<\/a> would no longer be allowed to take place on campus.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.nationalreview.com\/phi-beta-cons\/283222\/yale-bans-sex-week-nathan-harden\">In a statement<\/a>, the university explained its decision to ban the decade-old series of sex-themed special events:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>We heard over and over from students, faculty, and staff that \u201cSex Week at Yale,\u201d a student-sponsored event, is highly problematic. A student-initiated event begun in 2002, it has described itself as \u201ca campus-wide interdisciplinary sex education program.\u201d Over time, this event clearly has lost the focus of its stated intention and in recent years it has prominently featured titillating displays, \u201cadult\u201d film stars, and commercial sponsors of such material.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>It only took them a few weeks to reverse their decision.<\/p>\n<p>Starting this week, Sex Week is back in its full glory. The only change is, this time around, while events are still being held in Yale classrooms, organizers are not allowed to use the Yale name in any of their promotional materials.
