Ardern listed a number of liberal political victories the country had achieved, such as action on climate change and LGBT agenda items.<\/p>\n<p>She included \u201cbanning military-style, semi-automatics and assault rifles,\u201d as another victory, to a round of applause from the graduation attendees and Jackson.<\/p>\n<p>Video shows Jackson clapping to that specific example. The federal judge attended law school at the Ivy League university.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" class=\"rumble\" src=\"https:\/\/rumble.com\/embed\/v14w29y\/?pub=gavb5\" width=\"640\" height=\"360\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>The ceremony happened just two days after a deadly shooting at a public school in Uvalde, Texas that renewed calls for restrictions on the sale of firearms.<\/p>\n<p>The same night of the shooting, President Joe Biden <a href=\"https:\/\/www.whitehouse.gov\/briefing-room\/speeches-remarks\/2022\/05\/24\/remarks-by-president-biden-on-the-school-shooting-in-uvalde-texas\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">said<\/a> he wanted to see \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2013\/01\/17\/us\/even-defining-assault-weapons-is-complicated.html?pagewanted=all\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">assault weapons<\/a>\u201d banned.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI am sick and tired of it. We have to act. And don\u2019t tell me we can\u2019t have an impact on this carnage.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI spent my career as a senator and as Vice President working to pass commonsense gun laws,\u201d he said on May 24. \u201cWe can\u2019t and won\u2019t prevent every tragedy.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBut we know they work and have a positive impact. When we passed the assault weapons ban, mass shootings went down,\u201d he said. \u201cWhen the law expired, mass shootings tripled.
