The former secretary of state will \u2018convene outstanding policy thinkers from around the world to develop innovative policy solutions\u2019<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n

Former secretary of state and twice-failed presidential candidate Hillary Clinton has been named a \u201cpresidential fellow\u201d by Columbia University.<\/p>\n

The Ivy League school announced today that Clinton \u201cwill join Columbia University as professor of practice at the School of International and Public Affairs\u2026and presidential fellow at Columbia World Projects,\u201d according to a university announcement.<\/p>\n

President Lee Bollinger wrote in a statement<\/a>:<\/p>\n

I have had the great pleasure of knowing Hillary personally for three decades, since her early days as First Lady of the United States. Her public service has expanded since then, most notably in her remarkably successful tenure as Senator for the State of New York, in her impressive role as Secretary of State, and in her two historic and record-breaking presidential campaigns. Given her extraordinary talents and capacities together with her singular life experiences, Hillary Clinton is unique, and, most importantly, exceptional in what she can bring to the University\u2019s missions of research and teaching, along with public service and engagement for the public good.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

In her role, Clinton will \u201cconvene outstanding policy thinkers from around the world to develop innovative policy solutions,\u201d according to the university media statement.<\/p>\n

The dean of the international affairs school praised Clinton for her \u201cglobal fight to save democracy, her advocacy for women\u2019s rights, and her staunch defense of marginalized people everywhere.\u201d<\/p>\n

Clinton was named the secretary of state by President Barack Obama, who defeated her in 2008 for the Democratic nomination for president.<\/p>\n

Later, Clinton would run for president in 2016 before losing to Donald Trump.<\/p>\n
