Goal is to ‘counter the almost universal media climate catastrophe narrative,’ scientist says\u00a0<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n

A total of 1,609 scientists, professors and other scholars have signed on to a new declaration that argues there is no climate change crisis.<\/p>\n

\u201cThere is no climate emergency\u201d is the title of the declaration<\/a> that consists of 53 pages\u2019 worth of signatories from across the globe, including some Nobel Laureates and other researchers from prestigious universities. Other signers include engineers, attorneys and other professionals.<\/p>\n

The declaration, published with its endorsers in mid-August, lists six main arguments against the alleged climate crisis, including that carbon dioxide is not a pollutant and is actually \u201cplant food\u201d and \u201cthe basis of all life on Earth.\u201d<\/p>\n

The motivation for the statement \u201cis to counter the almost universal media climate catastrophe narrative with objective facts verified by over 1,600 independent scientists, engineers and professionals from over 30 countries,\u201d said Jim O\u2019Brien, chair of the Irish Climate Science Forum<\/a>, in an email to The College Fix.<\/em><\/p>\n

The document was put forth by Climate Intelligence, or CLINTEL, which describes itself<\/a> as an independent foundation that seeks \u201cto generate knowledge and understanding of the causes and effects of climate change as well as the effects of climate policy.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are not \u2018activists\u2019 as we have no political agenda other than better informing the IPCC, politicians, regulators and the public, so that hopefully better future climate\/energy policies will result,\u201d O\u2019Brien said, adding the group is self-funded and receives no financial support from energy or agricultural sectors.<\/p>\n

Another point the scientists make in the declaration is that there \u201cis no statistical evidence that global warming is intensifying hurricanes, floods, droughts and suchlike natural disasters, or making them more frequent.\u201d<\/p>\n

They go on to state that extreme climate change mitigation efforts might actually harm the planet, calling them \u201charmful and unrealistic.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cClimate science has degenerated into a discussion based on beliefs, not on sound self-critical science,\u201d the group adds.<\/p>\n

Among the signers, 321 are from the United States, the Epoch Times<\/em> reported<\/a>, adding that the coalition \u201cpointed out that Earth\u2019s climate has varied as long as it has existed, with the planet experiencing several cold and warm phases. The Little Ice Age only ended as recently as 1850, they said.\u201d<\/p>\n

“Therefore, it is no surprise that we now are experiencing a period of warming,\u201d the declaration states.<\/p>\n

O\u2019Brien told The College Fix<\/em> the planet is warming while it recovers from the Little Ice Age, partly due to GHG emissions, but \u201cthere is no climate crisis.\u201d<\/p>\n

He said \u201cmitigation will have imperceptible impact, let\u2019s just adapt to whatever modest changes occur in the decades ahead.\u201d<\/p>\n

The declaration has reached a wide international audience so far, he said, but some signers \u201chave suffered criticism for speaking out, and are often banned from the media.\u201d<\/p>\n

Reached for comment by The College Fix<\/em>, Chatham House<\/a>, an independent policy institute that offers analysis on climate research, declined to comment.<\/p>\n
