‘A light shines brightest in the darkness’<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n

“Faithful Catholic colleges” are seeing an increase an enrollment according to a new report.<\/p>\n

The interest in theologically sound colleges comes due to the work of the Cardinal Newman Society, which publishes a guide<\/a> of faithful colleges.<\/p>\n

“We keep hearing people refer to a \u2018Newman movement\u2019 because these faithful Catholic colleges just keep growing and setting the example of how to attract families today,” President Patrick Reilly told<\/a>\u00a0The Daily Signal<\/em>.<\/p>\n

“According to a release from the organization, Belmont Abbey College in North Carolina saw its largest incoming class ever (1,654 students) for the 2023-2024 school year, a 10% increase from last year\u2019s enrollment numbers,” the conservative news outlet reported.<\/p>\n

“A light shines brightest in the darkness, and increasing numbers of Catholic families are choosing the faithful Catholic colleges recommended in The Cardinal Newman Society\u2019s\u00a0Newman Guide,<\/i> ” Newman Society stated in a news release<\/a>.<\/p>\n

“Meanwhile, in Kansas, Benedictine College boasted a record undergraduate class of 2,213 students, marking a 121% growth for the college over the past two decades,” the\u00a0Daily Signal<\/em> reported.<\/p>\n

Other schools including Catholic University of America and Christendom College have seen similar interest.<\/p>\n

Conservative Catholic universities University of Mary in Bismarck, North Dakota, and Franciscan University of Steubenville in Ohio both welcomed their largest freshmen classes in history.<\/p>\n

Franciscan’s increased enrollment has reportedly caused a good problem – daily Masses<\/a> are standing room only.<\/p>\n

Thomas Aquinas College also reportedly hit its capacity, and as noted by Newman Guide, added a second campus in Massachusetts in 2019. The school has a history of producing priests and other religious vocations, such as nuns, as previously reported<\/a> by\u00a0The College Fix<\/em>.<\/p>\n

The increased interest in endorsed Catholic colleges come as once-solid<\/a> universities like the University of Notre Dame embrace abortion and transgenderism.<\/p>\n

The university recently allowed a drag show<\/a> on campus, which drew a rebuke<\/a> from the local bishop, Kevin Rhoades. During Mass on campus, Bishop Rhoades condemned the drag show as “unholy.” He also previously rebuked<\/a> the university for hosting an “abortion doula” on campus.<\/p>\n
