Winners will get professional help pushing abortion message in film<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n

Barnard College wants \u201cto celebrate and support abortion stories.\u201d<\/p>\n

Its annual Athena Film Festival recently closed submissions for its mentorship program. Winners of the script competition will be announced at the film festival scheduled for Feb. 29- March 4, 2024.<\/p>\n

Winners of the project will receive mentorship on how to better promote the direct killing of innocent preborn babies. \u201cThe Abortion Pipeline Project (APP) is an annual narrative screenplay competition for feature and short film scripts which seeks to seed and source a variety of narrative film projects which center abortion,\u201d the description states.<\/p>\n

It is \u201ca new fund to celebrate and support abortion stories.\u201d<\/p>\n

The project \u201cwill introduce writers to reproductive justice leaders to ensure the scripts are steeped in expertise.”<\/p>\n

The goal is “to give creatives a positive and generative experience of collaboration with abortion justice experts within the reproductive justice movement.\u201d<\/p>\n

Partners with the New York City college include pro-abortion group We Testify and filmmaker Jess Jacobs. Neither responded to two requests for comment sent in the past month that asked if they would consider themselves \u201cpro-abortion\u201d versus \u201cpro-choice.\u201d<\/p>\n

They were also asked to define the word \u201cwomen.\u201d<\/p>\n

We Testify says<\/a> it \u201cunapologetically believes that people who have abortions are our future.\u201d<\/p>\n

Barnard also did not respond to requests for comment.<\/p>\n

\u201cOne in three women and birthing people in the United States has had an abortion, a reality we have yet to see reflected in the lives of characters we love onscreen,\u201d Jacobs stated<\/a> in the Barnard news release.<\/p>\n

Filmmakers were asked to \u201chave a woman, trans or non-binary character(s) in leadership role(s) or position(s)\u201d and \u201ccontain representation of, meaningful mention of, or thematic reference to abortion.\u201d<\/p>\n

But the scripts must also be in English though \u201cdialogue intended to be filmed in non-English language is OK.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cWe strongly encourage you to apply if you are from a marginalized or underrepresented group, particularly in the film industry,\u201d the project states<\/a>.<\/p>\n

A longtime pro-life leader criticized the film festival.<\/p>\n

Judie Brown, president and co-founder of American Life League, commented that \u201c[t]hese efforts are part of a growing movement to mainstream abortion as though it were nothing more than part of women\u2019s healthcare.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cPro-abortion signals support for abortion whereas pro-[c]hoice is a term created by the pro-aborts to make their position sound more reasonable,\u201d Brown told The Fix<\/em> via email.<\/p>\n

Barnard College seems to have a broad definition of \u201cwomen\u201d as seen in its Transgender Policy<\/a> which states \u201cBarnard will consider for admission those applicants who consistently live and identify as women, regardless of the gender assigned to them at birth.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cEvery woman is created in the image and likeness [of] God. The word woman is not a term, it is an identification of the female gender at the point following adolescence,\u201d Brown told The Fix<\/em>.<\/p>\n

She said it is shameful that women are promoting abortion.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt is a shame that there are women so committed to killing their offspring that they would resort to projects and promotions that advance the acceptance of abortion,\u201d she said. \u201cAfter all, at least fifty percent of all abortions, take the lives of females … the gender the college seeks to promote. Nothing like undermining your own mission!\u201d<\/p>\n
