{"id":139400,"date":"2023-12-20T17:43:36","date_gmt":"2023-12-20T22:43:36","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.thecollegefix.com\/?p=139400"},"modified":"2023-12-20T17:43:55","modified_gmt":"2023-12-20T22:43:55","slug":"harvard-withholds-racial-demographics-of-class-of-2028-early-admits","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.thecollegefix.com\/harvard-withholds-racial-demographics-of-class-of-2028-early-admits\/","title":{"rendered":"Harvard withholds racial demographics of Class of 2028 early admits"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><em><strong>Legal experts said the decision likely was &#8216;politically motivated&#8217;<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p>Harvard University did not release data on the racial demographics of students accepted via early admission to the Class of 2028, breaking the precedent from last year.<\/p>\n<p><em>The Harvard Crimson<\/em> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thecrimson.com\/article\/2023\/12\/14\/early-action-2028\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">reported<\/a> on Dec. 14 that &#8220;this year\u2019s early admissions cycle marks the first in which race was not considered in Harvard\u2019s admissions process.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Dean of Admissions and Financial Aid William Fitzsimmons told <em>The Crimson<\/em> he had \u201cno information\u201d about how racial demographics in admissions have changed this cycle.<\/p>\n<p>Fitzsimmons told the paper that Harvard will release figures on race and ethnicity in the entering class after final admissions decisions are made.
