Group used a logo associated with a terrorist organization<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n

An Ohio public university suspended a leftist group called the Central Ohio Revolutionary Socialists after determining its activities presented a risk of major damage to people or university property.<\/p>\n

Ohio State University spokesperson Dave Isaac told<\/a> The Lantern<\/em>, the school newspaper, that the group had been reported for several violations of the university’s code of conduct.<\/p>\n

The university established “reasonable cause” that the group’s acts “pose a significant risk of substantial harm to the safety or security of [its] organization’s members, other members of the university community or to university property,” according to a statement provided to The Lantern.<\/em><\/p>\n

The group’s violations included “disregarding university directives, being non-responsive to meeting requests from the organization’s advisors and university leaders, and dissemination of materials that include a logo associated with a designated terrorist organization,” according to the paper.<\/p>\n

The logo is linked to the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine, The Lantern<\/em> reported.<\/p>\n

The U.S. Secretary of State designated the Popular Front for the Liberation in Palestine as a foreign terrorist organization on Oct. 8, 1997, according to the Department of State’s website<\/a>.<\/p>\n

CORS may not participate in or sponsor activities as a registered group while an investigation is underway.<\/p>\n

The group said in a statement to The Lantern<\/em> that Ohio State University is joining the ranks of universities that have suppressed pro-Palestinian organizations.<\/p>\n

Central Ohio Revolutionary Socialists “is an organization that aims to bring together students interested in left\/progressive politics, including issues of civil rights, gender and sexual equality, war and foreign policy, and domestic policy regarding immigration and class hierarchies,” according to OSU’s Office of Student Life website<\/a>.<\/p>\n

“We aim to link these educational goals with action: planning and attending protests, building a revolutionary movement of the working class, and building collective power with like-minded campus, local, and national groups,” the website states.<\/p>\n
