Hundreds at UC want him gone for liking pro-Israel posts<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n

The chair of the University of California system\u2019s Board of Regents has not backed down as a coalition pressures him to resign over his engagement with pro-Israel social media content.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe moral bankruptcy and bigotry of UC Regents Chair Richard Leib is not welcome in our university community, and we will remain steadfast in our demands for his resignation,\u201d the UC Palestine Collective said in an email to The College Fix<\/em>.<\/p>\n

The Fix<\/em> asked Leib for comment on the accusations via LinkedIn message but did not receive a response in the past two weeks.\u00a0The Fix<\/em> also contacted the general regents email for comment on Tuesday but no response has been received.<\/p>\n

Leib, who is Jewish, \u201chas personally met with Arab, Jewish and Muslim students\u201d to hear their concerns about hostility on campus, according to a UC spokesperson<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Leib (pictured<\/em>) has called on campus officials \u201cto provide resources for added safety measures, to swiftly condemn inappropriate behavior and enforce rules against it, and to call out hate speech, even if protected by the First Amendment,\u201d the university stated.<\/p>\n

The board chair, who assumed his role in 2018, told<\/a> the Los Angeles Times<\/em> he doesn\u2019t plan to resign in response to an open letter<\/a> from the UC Palestine Collective accusing him of \u201cracism\u201d and \u201chomophobia\u201d amid Israel\u2019s war against the terrorist group Hamas.<\/p>\n
