‘CRT and poststructural scholar’ leads progressive training<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n

A transgender professor who at various times has used “they\/he,” “ze\/zim\/zer,” and “he\/him\/his,” pronouns reportedly provided “cultural inclusion” training to Internal Revenue Service criminal investigators.<\/p>\n

D-L Stewart (previously Dafina Lazarus-Stewart) trained the IRS agents, according to slides obtained by Judicial Watch.<\/p>\n

The conservative government watchdog group connected the training to President Joe Biden’s executive order<\/a> on advancing “racial equity” in government.<\/p>\n

Federal agents charged with investigating money laundering, public corruption, counterterrorism, and narcotics trafficking at the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) were pulled from their critical duties to endure woke training that directs them to operate in a culturally inclusive environment and speak up for multiple social identities. The drills focused on equity, diversity, inclusion and justice and instructed agents from the specialized IRS Criminal Investigation (IRSCI) unit to question how much they know about different cultural norms and mores and challenged them with the following inquiries: \u201cAre you prepared adequately to accommodate different cultural expectations and practices?\u201d and \u201cCan you deliver cultural inclusion behaviorally?\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Stewart currently chairs the higher education department at the University of Denver. The scholar also wrote a book about student development through a critical race theory lens, as previously reported<\/a> by The College Fix<\/em>. Stewart is a “CRT and poststructural scholar,” according to the professor’s LinkedIn profile.<\/p>\n

The slides instruct the agents, who work on crimes such as “bribery, embezzlement, illegal kickbacks and dismantling the country\u2019s major drug and money laundering organizations,” according to Judicial Watch, to ask themselves if they are “culturally intelligent.”<\/p>\n

Another slide on “projection bias” includes two photos with quotes on them, one from the Dalai Lama and another from an unidentified speaker.<\/p>\n

Other slides also include short general quotes about standing up for what is right or respecting other cultures.<\/p>\n

“Can you deliver cultural inclusion behaviorally,” one slide asks. However, Stewart has previously criticized the use of the term “inclusion.”<\/p>\n

Stewart also criticized the term “diversity” in a 2017 post-election essay, contrasting the terms with “equity” and “justice.”<\/p>\n

“Diversity asks ‘Isn’t it separatist to provide funding for safe spaces and separate student centers,'” Stewart wrote critically. “Equity answers, ‘What are people experiencing on campus that they don’t feel safe when isolated and separated from others like themselves,” Stewart wrote<\/a> for Inside Higher Ed\u00a0<\/em>in the essay.<\/p>\n

The professor criticized “historically white institutions” for taking the wrong approach to racial issues on campus, practicing “appeasement” so as to keep both activists and “trustees and nervous donors” happy.<\/p>\n

“In response, administrative leaders of HWIs are hiring chief diversity officers, establishing special endowments to support increased financial aid, launching cluster hires for faculty of color and investing in diversity programming, speakers and consultants,” Stewart wrote. “Those efforts seek to quiet the protesters, trustees and donors at the same time, all the while creating little systemic or transformative change on the campus.”<\/p>\n

Instead, “it is time for historically white institutions in American higher education to pursue real change and abandon the politics of appeasement.”<\/p>\n
